Huckabee is hoping to get a vice presidential bid. The problem is that conservatives don't like Huckabee very much either (though much more than McCain and he runs very strong with Evangelical Christians, the group that came out in great numbers in 2004, giving Bush his victory).
At the end of the day, whether its Clinton + Obama, Obama+ Clinton or either one of the with a different running mate, McCain needs to pick a very special candidate, someone who will appeal to some of the same independents now in love with Obama. This is definitely not Huckabee
When all is said and done, there won't be enough Conservatives coming out to vote in general with McCain at the top of the ticket. What he needs is a really special running mate to counter Obama and his hold on the independents. Its not Huckabee, though Huckabee helps him.
If he could get Colin Powell or someone of that stature that would be something....
